YOUR HUMBLE HOSTS

Doug is an influencer, public personality, and advocate for all the good stuff it is cool to be in favor of. Doug grew up in Austin back when it was part of Texas. At an early age, he began forcing other people to listen to the music he likes even if they asked him to stop. He was also very eager to tell others what was wrong with the music they listen to. Despite the fact that this made him extremely popular, he has softened considerably over the years, and now listens and learns from others while only occasionally releasing his opinion in a most gentle and considerate manner. Doug spends most of his free time at the shelter he founded for unwanted, dyslexic kittens.

Tony is an avid supporter of the local live music scene in Austin. He is a bit of an obsessive when it comes to music, which has filled his brain with a great deal of information that would be useless anywhere else but comes in handy for the podcast. Those of you who are devoted listeners (and we thank you for that) know that he is a huge fan of power pop (he could give it a rest from time to time) but he also loves traditional country and progressive rock.

Jonathan "J.M." Roe grew up in a musical household where all kinds of music emanated from the family's stereo. He sang in the youth choirs at his father's churches in West and Central Texas and, with his father's help, learned to play guitar. After becoming frustrated with the instrument, he switched to bass because it seemed every band was in search of a bass player and therefore, contrary to what Doug says about bass players, is the only bona fide musician of the three. While attending summer camp with his friend Doug Cooper, he was introduced to the music of Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, and other musicians he has come to love. When the idea of creating a podcast about albums started to become a possibility, JM humbly offered his services and his experience with mixing software for the greater good. You can hear J.M.’shandiwork as an engineer, editor, and mixer in every episode. He hopes you find it at the very least acceptable. He now works in the tech industry and lives in his birthplace of Austin, Texas.

Our Mission:

We discuss each album with thoughtfulness, humor, and (from time to time) irreverence. We are highly opinionated and outspoken.

We hope to leave you thoroughly entertained and a little more knowledgeable. If you are serious about great music, then This Is Vinyl Tap is for you.
